Burda 6632 - Berry Pink Polka Dotted Top w/ White Edging

Oh hi! It's been awhile since I've updated this blog. I did some traveling in June and have since then been focusing on getting organized. I'm sure you can imagine how much stuff one can pile up with having 4 children, and I was starting to feel like I was drowning. Very little sewing has been happening, but I did manage to make a cute summer top last month.

I've had this rayon challis in my fabric stash for a long while, and I'm really not too sure where it came from. Somewhere online I think. There was just enough for this swingy sleeveless top, which is Burda 6632. I used a remnant of white silk for the band to make that area pop. The directions for the band were really neat and involved no hand sewing. Not that I usually mind hand sewing, but I know from experience that curved bands around the neckline are no picnic to get even.

This design has pleats in the front and the back which give it a relaxed summery look. It also has a slight high-low hemline. The sleeves are finished with bias binding, included with the pattern pieces. I cut my typical size 12 and had no issues with fit around the shoulders. White buttons were added down the center front because I just thought it needed "something".

These kinds of flowy tops look great with shorty-shorts in the summer; I actually wear this silhouette quite often. I wore this out to eat paired with some boot cut jeans and liked it that way as well.

This pattern was quick and easy and I'm sure I'll be revisiting it again soon.

  3. very pretty for summer. I made that pattern as an attempt to try new silhouettes. Might have to try the long sleeve version when it cools off.

  7. Cute top. The contrast band is a nice feature. This pattern is in my sewing queue paired with some silk prints. I was concerned with the finished hem edge circumference. And your top seems to confirm it very generous. I always appreciate seeing the patterns in my stash, sewn by others.

    1. Yes, it does have a large circumference. Definitely use a swingy fabric or be prepared to look like a tent lol.

  8. Love it with the sneakers. The white band really makes it a nicer top than it would have been with the printed band.

    1. Honestly I didn't want to have to match the dots.
